Summertime...

We apologize for not posting very frequently lately, but even ESC-bloggers have to take some time off now and then to recharge the batteries and enjoy the Nordic summer nights. Now it's back to work and busy days in the office battling a jam packed inbox. So much for recharging the batteries... Oh, well, as a way of fighting post vacation blues we can recommend putting some of your favorite Eurovision tracks on your playlist and turning up the volume to the despair of your colleagues. Cheerful Schlagers from the 80s works best.

Summertime isn't exactly peak season when it comes to Eurovision Extravaganza, but it is actually possible to catch a glimpse of some of your ESC-favorites both live and on the telly as many artists go on tour and appear on various summer shows and events. Say, if you happen to be near Mysen south of Oslo on the 28th of August, you can see Norwegian MGP-stars like Heine Totland (MGP-semifinalist 2010), Venke Knutson (MGP-finalist 2010), Åge Steen "Glam" Nilsen (ESC 10th place 2005 with Wig Wam), and ESC-diva Maria Haukaas Storeng (MGP-finalist 2010 and ESC 5th place 2008) as well as Ovi (who sat Telenor Arena on fire this year and landed a well deserved 3rd place for Romania) perform at Momarkedet. If you're not in Mysen, like most of us, you can catch the show on Norwegian TV2. We will most likely not tune in, since we’ve seen Maria perform like a gazillion times over the past few months. She is everywhere all the time, and we're starting to grow a bit tired of her shiny happy face. That girl really knows how to make the most of it for what it’s worth… Good for her!

There's no such thing as over exposure. Or is it?




We are starting to look forward to a new ESC-season and in September it will be revealed where next year’s shenanigans will be at. We know it’s somewhere in Germany that’s for sure. And rumor has it that the comeback kid Austria will be among the first to select their entry for next year. Hurray!

Modulated Eurovision

So, you're not the biggest of Eurovision fans, but you'd like to check in on the glamour and vibe anyway? Now you can watch Modulated Eurovision, both live and online.

 Modulated Eurovision is a concept that is arranged for the fifth time in Norway in the ballroom of Gamle Logen. The pictures and the costumes are live from Telenor Arena, but the music is being remixed and recreated live by 12 different bands.


The people behind the event tell us they are offering a pop elegant, electro shocked, stunt energetic, glitterrocked experience from 12 of Norway's best live bands, like Montée, PowPow, Lucy Swann, The New Wine alongside jazz saxophonist Håkon Kornstad, Miss Harmonica, Tut & Knore, Harrys Gym, Ivar Winther vs Center of the Universe, Torgny (Amdam, eks- Amulet) vs Zweizz and the beatboxer Droolian. Else Kåss Furuseth and Kjetil Bjørke are tonight's hosts, and two VJ-crew from Palegolas and For Your Eyes Truly will make sure the two shows are becoming one.

Now, that's something worth checking out if you're not that into the regular stuff. Either drop by Gamle Logen, or visit DeichmanskeTV live bet to watch online. Make sure you use Firefox as a browser and download VLC, that needs to be installed on your computer. The streaming starts at 8 pm.

Hera Björk plays at Club Latter tonight

Club Latter says Good Evening Europe!

Birgitte Einarsen will be performing her glorious Good Evening Europe-entry at Club Latter tonight. Come party with us!



If you don't know Club Latter, it's the fantastic, glamorous club on Aker Brygge that has decided to do give us a Eurovision week full of party, glamor and joy. Tonight is the grand party of our blog Good Evening Europe, and our Norwegian MGP-heroes Birgitte Einarsen, Alexander Stenerud and Jenny Jensen. And it's hosted by the lovely Solveig Kloppen.

It's less than 5 minutes walk from EuroClub, the doors open at 22.00, and there's no reason why you shouldn't be outside at that very moment. We can't wait to see you!

So do we! As we told earlier we have hooked up with Club Latter for the best partying possible. Now to be more specific we hooked up with successful producers Mads Rogde and Fredrik Havstein - just the right people to make this classy joint your fav hangout throughout ESC week.

Both fans and artists are invited to Club Latter at Aker Brygge, where Norwegian and International stars will entertain you five nights in a row, kicking off what they have named Eurovision Festival on Tuesday 25th. Save your energy for Wednesday, though, because that is the night of our fabulous Good Evening Europe-party.

Some of the artists that are confirmed to perform is Icelandic Euroband, Bobbysocks, Charmed, Queentastic, Birgitte Einarsen and Christine Guldbrandsen.

"These are all artists that have been popular with Eurovision fans the latest couple of years", producer Fredrik Havstein says. "The semi finals and finals will be shown on the large screen, followed by party and entertainment. Then the Good Evening Europe-party on Wednesday and the party of esctoday.com on Friday", he continues, stressing that all of the nights are open to everyone.

Now, party for everyone is something we in Good Evening Europe understand the concept of, and we also feel certain long time artistic director of NRK's MGP (the Norwegian national finals of ESC) knows what he is doing.

"The city will be packed with people ready to have a ball, and we couldn't find a better club to offer our International guests - right in the heart of the city, with excellent service and handsome bartenders", Mads says enthusiastically.

Yup, Mads and Fredrik will rapidly become some of our favorite blokes during this contest. They promise everyone a fair share of fun, extravaganza and surprises, whether being a hardcore fan from Malta or a more relaxed hunk from...let's say...Israel. They invite us all, so don't you miss out.
